Most of the time, it’s because you’re paying for the experience and expertise that comes with photographing someone in their most intimate setting. Experienced photographers are going to know just how to settle someone’s nerves, which poses will look the best, how to use lighting to your advantage, and everything else that goes into making a boudoir photo session a good one!
It’s important to keep in mind the factors that will affect the total cost of a shoot. Some of these are:
- Session length – 60 minutes versus 150 minutes.
- Number of images – How many images from your session that you end up buying.
- Level of retouching – Those wanting more retouching done to their photos might end up paying more for the quality and time it takes.
- Location – We use luxury AirBnbs and hotels, others use studios, but both are important to the look and aesthetic of a good boudoir session.
- Experience – The more experienced a photographer is, the more they’re going to charge. A beginner boudoir photographer might charge less as they’re just starting out or are trying to gain more experience.
Keep in mind, these factors don’t include the products you might want, referring to the prints and how you want to display these photos. Products can range anywhere from $200-2,500, depending on the boudoir studio, the product quality, and the amount of images it holds. Additionally, the cost of products often don’t include the price for the rights of the images.
Thankfully, a lot of places (including us!) tend to offer packages or bundles, so the total cost can go down. A package can range anywhere from $200-2,400, that being from a newbie all the way to a high-end photographer.
That said, the average total cost of everything from session to products, can be between $1,500-5,000.
