It can be the reason why you’re doing it (Bridal, maternity, self-love) or it can be an aesthetic (Vintage, risqué, floral).
A theme can be portrayed by the outfits you wear, the time of day your shoot is, the angles of the photos, and the lighting. A shoot done during golden hour with warm light and floral or frilly lingerie is going to set a different tone from one done at night with dramatic lighting and bold lingerie.
